Gmail templates are disabled by default on every account — and on Google Workspace, admins can grey out the Enable toggle entirely. When native canned responses are off limits, QwicMailer gives you a full template library through Google OAuth without touching Gmail Advanced settings.
Disabled by default — and sometimes blocked
Google treats Templates as a power-user Advanced setting. New accounts start with it off. Workspace admins can go further, preventing users from enabling canned responses through organizational policy. Managed Chromebooks, education accounts, and strict OUs commonly hit this wall. The result: no save, no insert, no library — regardless of how much time you spend in settings.
That is different from templates missing from the menu, where the feature may be on but the UI fails. Here, the feature itself is unavailable.
You do not need Gmail Settings → Advanced → Templates. QwicMailer is your template library; Gmail is only the sending channel after you connect Google once.
Use QwicMailer when Gmail templates are disabled
DashboardOn Dashboard (/dashboard), click Approve Gmail permissions, or go to Profile → Gmail access → Connect Gmail.
Once connected, your Gmail address is the send channel — QwicMailer is the template brain.
Build your library
- Open Templates in the sidebar (
/dashboard/templates). - Click New template (or Start from scratch / pick a starter).
- In the Template Editor: set Subject, optional Preheader, and body text.
- Insert variables from the Variables sidebar — e.g.
{{first_name}},{{company}},{{topic}}. - Choose a Category (Sales, Recruiting, Business, etc.).
- Click Save. Your template appears in your QwicMailer library instantly.
Send without native templates
- Go to Quick Send (
/dashboard/quick-send). - Pick your template.
- Add recipient(s) from Contacts or type an address — choose Single email or Bulk send.
- Fill any variable fields; review the Live preview.
- Click Send email. The message sends from your connected Gmail address and appears in Gmail Sent.
Templates live in QwicMailer; messages leave from your real inbox and appear in Gmail Sent.
Why OAuth beats a disabled toggle
QwicMailer requests Gmail send permissions through Google's standard consent screen — not through the buried Templates setting IT blocked. Your templates, variables, categories, and previews live in /dashboard/templates, outside Gmail's restricted Advanced panel.
